Здраво – Hello everybody – today is Serbian. Reason is very simple – today at 7pm on Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne Park Novak Djokovic will play his second round match against Ryan Harrison (USA). Not much chances for American’s but still may be interesting.

Don’t have many news from Australian Open yet – they start at 11am – in an hour from now. I’ll cover important results and information in my tomorrow post. For now just a short video – Best Shot of the Day (funny enough – Lleyton Hewitt – he is just OUT of tournament)

For now I want to share my impressions of yesterday’s game with Federer. It was his first match here and in 2013. His opponent was Benoit Paire – player not without skills or energy. But in this case it requires more than just a few moving components to pack away the great Roger Federer .

In a master class execution , the Swiss dismantled the Frenchman 6-2 6-4 6-1 in just one hour and 23 mins to go into the 2nd round .

The enhanced Paire was said by certain to have enough in his strategy to make the four-time Australian Open champion uncomfortable , but he by no means came close toreally troubling Federer .

After a rapid-fire 1st set in which he overpowered the 23-year-old with his serve , his whizzing forehand and remarkable movement , Federer managed to use the contest as an extended exercise session .

He chipped and charged occasionally, combined spins and speeds with his one-handed backhand or was ready to take big cuts with his clicking forehand from around the court

Federer won the 2nd set with a tremendous serve and clean forehand winner, followed by a second service bomb and heavy topspin backhand that Paire couldn’t manage .

With the people urging him on through nearly every point , he cracked 9 winners to get the 3rd set , including 5 for 5 on net charges , much to the pleasure of his coach , Paul Annacone, an old net rusher himself.

Federer obtained the contest when he chipped and charged with an uncommon forehand slice , forcing a mistake off his opponent’s racket . He completed the match with twenty five winners .

Paire believed he couldn’t scan Federer in any way , which came as no real surprise to the Swiss, who has competed against competitors of all sizes or stripes and of all ranges .

The 31-year-old Swiss is trying to come to be only the 2nd person to success 5 Australian titles . The other player to do this, Aussie Roy Emerson, keeps the record with 6 crowns .

Federer is my favourite player and I really want him to win this 5-th title. There is no Nadal here, only Djokovic – Federer has all chances to add another victorious chapter in the history of tennis!

I would suggest you a quiz – How many records still NOT belongs to Federer? Let’s try to cont this. I think it will not be a huge amount – something between 5 and 10, probably? Write your comments, please. Winner will receive remarkable prize – souvenir  from Australian Open 2013.

Wish you Good Luck and accurate bets/prognosis.

Sincerely yours,

Leonid
